People say Keely came from the States. Beyond that, the stories become rather less reliable.

She has a habit of appearing at The Jolly Roger just when the night begins to get interesting, looking as though she had somewhere else to be and absolutely no intention of going there. A little dishevelled by the early hours, perhaps, but never short of charm.

Keely enjoys good music, dancing, unexpected conversations and the sort of company that makes one more drink seem like an excellent idea. She is warm to those who treat her well, quick to recognise a genuine friend, and perfectly capable of making it clear when someone’s attention is not wanted.

There is something intriguing about her. She listens more than she explains, smiles as though she knows a secret, and rarely gives the impression that anyone has quite figured her out. Some nights she is the life of the party; on others, she disappears before anyone thinks to ask where she is going.

She has a curious interest in crime stories, punishment and the darker corners of human nature. Whether this is simply a fascination, a private hobby or something more personal is anyone’s guess.

Keely’s past remains her own business. Her future, however, may depend on whom she happens to meet tonight.

Her philosophy?

“Treat me kindly, and I’ll do the same. Give me a reason not to, and you’ll find out how quickly things can change.”
